Darren Fuery Counselling

About Me

I work with adults and young people who feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from themselves, or unsure of what is happening for them. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, difficulty expressing your feelings, or noticing patterns in relationships that are difficult to understand or change.

I am an integrative counsellor, drawing primarily on humanistic and psychodynamic approaches. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is central to the work, and I aim to offer a safe, accepting space where you can explore your experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

I believe that the ways we think, feel and respond to life often make sense when we understand the experiences behind them. Together, we can begin to explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, developing greater self-understanding and awareness.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a school counsellor supporting young people with emotional wellbeing, self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties and relationship challenges. This experience continues to shape the way I work — with patience, care and respect for each person's individual journey.

I am a BACP Registered Counsellor and work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

How I Can Support You

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or unsure of what is happening for you. Perhaps you find it difficult to express your feelings, feel stuck in patterns that are hard to understand or change, or notice the same difficulties appearing in your relationships.

Counselling can offer a safe and confidential space where you can slow things down, feel heard, and begin to make sense of your experiences. I believe that the ways we think, feel and respond to life often develop for a reason. Together, we can explore these experiences with curiosity and compassion, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the patterns that may be affecting your life.

My aim is not to “fix” you or tell you who you should be. Instead, I offer support as you explore your experiences at a pace that feels right for you, developing greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a more compassionate relationship with yourself and others.

I offer support with:

  • Anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • Low mood, self-criticism and difficulties with self-esteem

  • Feeling disconnected from yourself or your emotions

  • Understanding yourself, your identity and your needs

  • Relationship difficulties and repeating patterns

  • Emotional regulation and feeling overwhelmed or shut down

  • The impact of past experiences, relationships and attachment patterns

How Counselling Works

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly at a regular time. Currently, I am available for online counselling.

We begin with an initial session to talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you’re hoping for. This is also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work and whether it feels right for you.

From there, we work together at a pace that feels manageable, with an emphasis on creating a safe, consistent space where you can speak freely and be met with understanding. Counselling is confidential and guided by clear ethical boundaries.

Sessions and Fees

I offer online counselling sessions for adults and young people. Sessions are £45 per 50-minute session.

Many clients choose to attend weekly sessions as this can help create continuity and support the therapeutic process. However, I understand that everyone's circumstances are different, and session frequency can be discussed together depending on your needs and what feels right for you. All sessions are confidential and take place online.
